Frankencraften - Free Art

Every morning, mostly, I take the backroad.  Two weeks ago I passed the house on the curve, the one with the hand painted "Bird Song" sign.  That day another sign was nailed to the tree in front.  FREE ART.   30 some canvas oil paintings were displayed out front, for free!  Some were finished and others just beginning.  The magpie in me instinctively looked for the treasure in the lot.
This is what I brought home.

A few days later when passing by (feeling guilty for wanting more), the paintings were gone and the small sign was covered with a black cloth.  Art never ends.  It travels on via family and friends, a gallery sale, Goodwill donation or free to the person who happens to drive past that day.  I hope others stopped as well.

Frankencraften - Triple Letter Score

27 points for EXIT and 14 for INSIDE

This journal was born from a vintage SCRABBLE game, (not to be confused with vintage SCRAPPLE - yuch! )

Not easy switching to the left brain when playing Scrabble or following directions but this book really helped, ECO Books by Terry Taylor.  It features a book made from a produce tray to one using your old cassettes - what are those?
It's good to take a break from your comfort "brain" zone and stretch - if I really want to feel the burn I do a math problem! - and after visiting my left hemisphere, I always return to the right refreshed.
This journal has already been given to a VIP that told me they were going to use it to write songs.  I think that is worth much more than 41 points, don't you?

Found this score sheet inside the box...

Frankencraften

Latest monthly post to
Handmade in Pa.
This one started from a dress found in the 85 cent bin at Goodwill. Loved the fabric but the size was wrong. A match was made when I discovered another thrift store find - an entire bin full of vintage ( 7o's ) pom poms! Together they became another pillow for the nest.

week2 Get Your Paint On

Week 2 of GYPO was to create a painting inspired by an artist you admire. I chose Hundertwasser and used "Regentag on waves of love" as my springboard. His work is full of tiny bits of detail, mixed with pattern, texture and areas of flat color.

Get Your Paint On

week one of 'get your paint on'. an online painting class given by two artists, lisa congdon and mati mcdonough. the prompt this week is gee's bend quilts. i saw a downsized version of the original exhibit, still amazing, and have checked the book out of the library a thousand x.
but, when i painted my piece i looked at a book of amish quilts in the esprit collection, amish, the art of the quilt

my painting was a response to a palette used on one of the quilts and then everything else that is running around in my head took over!!!
